CHARITY NIGHT – Moving for Connection & Earth Child (English Event)

Seit 20 Jahren bringt Earthchild Project Yoga, Umweltbildung und Führungsprogramme in die Schulen der Townships von Kapstadt. Was als mutiger Traum begann, ist heute eine lebendige Gemeinschaft – Klassenzimmer voller Ruhe, Gärten voller Leben, Kinder die sich selbst finden.
Ich arbeite seit 8 Jahren mit diesem Projekt zusammen und habe vor 2 Jahren den deutschen Verein earthchild e.V. mitgegründet. Dieser Abend bedeutet mir außerordentlich viel – denn zum ersten Mal kommen Janna und Noks, die Gründerinnen, selbst nach Deutschland. Mit dabei: Ayabulela, die seit der ersten Klasse Teil des Projekts ist, heute 15 Jahre alt ist und bereits selbst die nächste Generation begleitet.
Der Abend:
Janna und Ayabulela erzählen – von dem, was Earthchild bewegt, verändert und trägt. Wir praktizieren gemeinsam Yoga. Und Noks bringt uns mit gemeinsamem Singen zusammen. Kein Frontalvortrag. Kein klassisches Charity-Event. Sondern ein echter Abend der Begegnung – zwischen München und Kapstadt, zwischen uns und dem, was möglich ist, wenn man lang genug dabei bleibt.
Ayabulela sagt es selbst: Yoga hat ihr inmitten von Gewalt und Substanzmissbrauch in ihrer Umgebung Stabilität und Frieden gegeben. Das ist kein Versprechen. Das ist ihre Geschichte.

For 20 years, Earthchild Project has been bringing yoga, environmental education and leadership programmes to schools in Cape Town's townships. What began as a bold dream has grown into a living community – classrooms filled with calm, gardens full of life, children finding their feet.
I have been working with this project for 8 years and co-founded the German association earthchild e.V. two years ago. This evening means an enormous amount to me – because for the first time, Janna and Noks, the founders, are coming to Germany themselves. Joining them is Ayabulela, who has been part of the project since first grade, is now 15 years old, and is already guiding the next generation herself.
The evening:
Janna and Ayabulela share stories – of what Earthchild moves, changes and carries. We practice yoga together. And Noks brings us together through communal singing. No lectures. No classic charity event. Just a real evening of connection – between Munich and Cape Town, between us and what becomes possible when you stay with something long enough.
Ayabulela says it herself: in the midst of violence and substance abuse in her surroundings, yoga gave her stability and peace. That is not a promise. That is her story.
